First Line Capitalisation

As a poet, do you have a problem with MS Word capitalising the first line when you would prefer it to be lower case?

Even though there is no full stop, Word thinks it’s the end of a sentence when the carriage return/line feed key is pressed so it automatically turns the next characcter into a capital.

One way out is to delete the capitalised letter and retype it. Word then realises that this is your intention and doesn’t change it.

This is a bit tedious, though.

To set the system so that it never puts the capital letter in after a  new line, change the autocorrect options.

This is done by selecting Tools>Autocorrect from the menu bar and, under the Autocorrect tab, removing the check mark from Capitalise the first letter of sentences.

Re:capitalisation of letters at beginning of line – there is a 3rd way of dealing with this. Immediately upon the letter being capitalised UNDO will reverse it again and the short cut keys are CTRL+Z or look for undo on the standard toolbar

    Thanks for that Linda.

Which way is chosen is depenendent on the way the person works so having different methods is very useful.
